HIGH TEAS AT THE MANSION

This past Christmas season, the Woman's Club of Fairmont opened their doors to the Community with a "Tea with a Twist" during Fairmont's annual Italian Festival known as the "Feast of the Seven Fishes." Guests were served Italian cookies and tea, and they were able to tour all three floors of the Mansion. It was a total success. Thirty members donated cookies and assisted in the event.

The Club holds at least one High Tea each year, and these teas are eagerly awaited by local residents. They are one of the longest standing fundraisers held by the Club.

In 2011 the Club held their 16th annual tea, an English-style High Tea in tribute to the Royal Wedding earlier in the year. In March 2012, the ladies of the Club hosted a "Midsummer's DayDream Tea," including a dramatic portrayal of Harriet Tubman by Illene Evans [in cooperation with the WV Arts and Humanities Center]. Ladies were asked to wear cream or white, gloves, hats and pearls. Hot teas, canape sandwiches and pastries were served to guests. The event was attended by women from Fairmont and surrounding towns, and it attracted a number of new members.
